RAMBAN, Sept 20: One person died on the spot while two others sustained injuries when an onion-laden truck rolled down into a gorge at Battery Chasma here today on Jammu-Srinagar Highway.
Police sources informed that a rashly driven truck bearing registration number PB06-7201 while on its way to Srinagar from Jammu went out of the control of its driver and plunged into a deep gorge leaving one person onboard dead and two others injured.
On getting information about the accident local volunteers, Police and SDRF personnel reached the spot and retrieved two critically wounded persons and shifted them to District Hospital Ramban while after hectic efforts the body of a person stuck under the wreckage of the truck was retrieved by the rescuers.
Police has identified the deceased as Sajjan Singh, 18, son of Sagar Singh, resident of Pathankote, Punjab.
The injured were identified as driver of the vehicle Sandeep, son of Vidya Sagar, resident of Pathankot and Younes, son of Birnasi, resident of Pinkota, Gurdaspur in Punjab.
SHO Police Station Ramban, Inspector Vijay Kotwal said that a case in FIR number 235 of 2024 under Section 281/125(a)/106 BNS was registered in this regard and investigations started.
