Over one lakh pension cases pending

SRINAGAR, June 9: Government today in Lower House revealed that over one lakh pension cases in various districts were pending.
In a written reply to a question of MLA Usman Majeed, Minister Incharge Social Welfare Department stated that there are 1,15,808 pension cases of widows, destitute, old age and physically challenged persons in various districts pending for sanction, out of which 11,173 cases under various types of pension are pending for sanction in Bandipora district.
“A total of 7143 cases under Integrated Social Security Scheme including 1250 old age pension, 1390 widows, and 4503 physically challenged persons are pending,” the Minister stated. Under National Social Assistance Programme 4030 cases including 2730 IGNOAPS, 650 IGNWPS and 650 IGNPDS cases are pending, he said.
“When the additional funds are received, these cases shall be cleared immediately,” added the Minister.
