SAMBA, Aug 30: A person was nabbed for damaging a petrol pump and around half dozen vehicles in Randhawa Colony of tehsil Vijaypur. However, four other accused including a woman, who were also involved in the incident are at large and manhunt has been launched by the police to nab them.
As per police sources, Gurdeep Singh, son of Hakam Singh along with his son Harvinder Singh alias Raju and wife Rajinder Kour, residents of Randhawa Colony, Vijaypur, Shammi Kumar, son of Alok Kumar, a resident of Railway Station, Vijaypur and one other unidentified person carrying sharp edged weapons barged into the house of Yashpal Choudhary at Randhawa Colony, Vijaypur over some enmity.
The family members of Yashpal Choudhary immediately bolted the doors from inside to thwart the murderous attempt of Gurdeep Singh and his family members.
The accused when failed to get any response from the house of the Yashpal Choudhary, damaged petrol pump ‘Surya Filling Station’ and around six vehicles including scooty, which were parked inside petrol pump and the house of the victim. They also damaged the Air Conditioner (AC) and window panes of the house.
On getting information, police party from Vijaypur police station rushed to the spot and when they were trying to persuade the matter, the accused attacked the police team also in which SHO received minor injuries.
Later, police arrested Gurdeep Singh from the spot, while others escaped from the spot, taking benefit of the darkness.
In this regard, a case under FIR number 82/14 under Section 307, 458, 147, 148, 149, 427 RPC and 4/25 Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur and investigation started.
Large number of people assembled at the site of the incident and expressed their anguish over the rising acts of criminal nature in the tehsil and urged the police to increase the patrolling and appoint additional cops for the security of the people.
Senior Superintendent of the Police (SSP) Samba Anil Magotra and SDPO Vijaypur SS Sambyal visited the spot this evening and assured that the rest of the accused will be arrested soon and strict action will be initiated against them.
