SRINAGAR: In order to allow smooth movement of vehicles carrying Government employees from winter capital to summer capital, the traffic department has decided to allow only one-way traffic on the national highway, connecting the Kashmir valley with the rest of the country on four days.
The darbar, seat of the Government, including the office of Chief Minister and her cabinet colleagues, top bureaucrats, will close at Jammu on April 29 to reopen here on May 9.
According to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Traffic in view of the Annual Darbar Move only up traffic from Jammu to Srinagar, shall be permitted on April 30th and May 1, 2016 on NHW-1A. Therefore, no traffic movement, including that of convoys of Army and Para-military forces, shall be permitted on the NHW-1A from Srinagar to Jammu on April 30th and May 1st, 2016.
Similarly, on May 7 and 8, 2016, again only up traffic from Jammu to Srinagar, shall be permitted on the highway. No traffic movement, including that of convoys of Army and Para-military forces, shall be permitted on these days. (AGENCIES)
