JAMMU, Mar 13: In view of frequent land sliding and sinking of road at some places due to the recent torrential rains, the Traffic authorities have decided to allow one way traffic on National Highway I-A till it is made roadworthy for two way traffic and there is improvement in the weather conditions.
As per the Inspector General of Police (Traffic) Jammu, till further orders, traffic on the National Highway from Jammu to Srinagar and vice versa will be strictly on the analogy of one way traffic with fixed timings for up and downward movement.
It is informed that from Srinagar to Jammu movement all Light Motor Vehicles should cross Pantha Chowk by 9 a m, Levdoora up to 12.30 p.m and Jawahar Tunnel up to 2 p.m.
Similarly, trucks and load carriers will be allowed to move towards Jammu, if they cross Pantha Chowk up to 7 a.m, Levdoora by 1 p.m and Jawahar Tunnel by 3 p.m. No vehicle of any type will be allowed to cross Jawahar Tunnel beyond the cut-off time.
It is further informed that for vehicular movement from Jammu to Srinagar LMVs/PSVs shall cross Nagrota by 8 a.m and Udhampur by 9.30 a.m after that no PSV will be allowed to move towards Kashmir. Trucks/load carriers will only be allowed from Udhampur to proceed towards Kashmir till cut-off time of 1.30 p.m to cross Jekhani Chowk Udhampur.
It is further informed that extension in cut-off time and permission for any vehicle to ply against the convoy will only be given by the headquarters. However, ambulances carrying patients will be allowed.
