One way traffic to continue on Kashmir highway

SRINAGAR :  Only one-way traffic will continue on  the national highway, connecting the Kashmir valley with the rest of the country and down convoy will play today from Srinagar to Jammu.
However, dozens of far flung and remote villages in north Kashmir, besides Mughal road remained closed due to accumulation of snow. The Srinagar-Leh national highway, the only road linking the Ladakh region with rest of the state, also remained closed since December last year due to snow.    A traffic police official said here today hundreds  of vehicles, particularly empty trucks and oil tankers besides passenger vehicles left different parts of the Kashmir valley for Jammu this morning.
However, no vehicle was allowed from Jammu as only  one-way traffic will continue till further orders on the highway to avoid traffic jam and accidents.
He said traffic will play from Jammu to Srinagar tomorrow subject to road and weather condition.    He said passengers and drivers are requested to contact traffic and Police Control Rooms (PCR) before starting their journey on the highway.
Meanwhile, dozens of road linking far flung and remote  areas in north Kashmir districts of Kupwara and Bandipora remained closed due to accumulation of snow.
