One year imprisonment to father, son in murderous attack case

JAMMU, Sept 12: 1st Additional Sessions Judge Jammu MA Chowdhary today awarded one year imprisonment and fine of Rs 1000 to Janak Raj, son of Bansi Lal, his son Inderjeet and Sukhdev, son of Mohinder Lal, all the residents of Patnyal for murderous attack on two persons namely Harbans Lal and Bodh Raj.
After hearing APP Ajay Singh Manhas for the State whereas Advocate Puran Chand for the accused, the court observed, “the offences punishable under Sections 307/325 RPC and 4/25 Arms Act have not been proved as such they are acquitted of the charges under these sections”, adding “since it has been proved that all the convicts had caused injuries to Harbans Lal and Bodh Raj, they are convicted under Section 323/34 RPC”.
Taking overall view of the facts and circumstances of the case, 1st Additional Sessions Judge said, “the court is of the considered opinion that it would be appropriate that each of the convicts are sentenced to maximum sentence of imprisonment”. Accordingly, the court awarded one year imprisonment and fine of Rs 1000 to all the three accused.
