JAMMU, Nov 5: Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu (CBI Cases) Vinod Chatterji Koul today convicted AE and Supervisor of Garrison Engineer Wing namely OP Bhatia and Bhola Nath, who were booked by the CBI in misappropriation of 13988.7 kilograms of iron scrap, 29 kilograms of copper scrap and 2 kilograms of brass scrap worth Rs 73043.
The Court, however, acquitted two other accused namely Roop Singh and Atma Singh, employee of Garrison Engineer for want of evidence.
After hearing Special Public Prosecutor CBI KS Pathania appearing for the CBI, the Special Judge Anticorruption observed, “CBI has proved charges against O P Bhatia and Bhola Nath as such both are awarded one year rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 30,000”.
While pronouncing the judgment, Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu (CBI Cases) took serious note of investigation and said, “CBI is required to take corrective measures in conducting the investigation in view of the fact that the investigation in this case has not been conducted seriously”.
“CBI should also initiate departmental proceedings where-ever it is found that the concerned IO has not conducted investigation properly”, the court directed.
