JAMMU, Jan 22: Jammu lad Onkar Singh received a very prestigious national award ‘Bal Shakti Puraskar’ (National Child Award) from President of India Ram Nath Kovind.
Onkar is the only child from Jammu to achieve multiple youngest world records internationally, both in the field of literature and information technology.
Onkar was seven years old when he first started developing websites.
According to his family, it was his father who used to work on computers, when upcoming of computers just started in the region and Onkar would simply follow him around. Later, when they saw his interest in the computers, they gave him a laptop to train himself in the field of technology.
Also when his parents found his interest in the field of literature they let him publish his debut book titled ‘When The Time Stops’ which led him to achieve the title of World’s Youngest Theoretical Author and this prestigious award.
“I am thrilled to be a part of this. I will also participate in the dress rehearsal and the Republic Day parade this year,” Onkar said.
Onkar, the recipient of the Rashtriya Bal Shakti Puraskar received a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a medal.
“According to MWCD, 49 students were selected nationally, and Onkar is one of them. In India, 260 million students are there, and the best forty-nine from the whole country were selected and he is one of them, it’s really a proud for me”, Onkar’s father said.
Onkar is the only child from Jammu to achieve this Rashtriya Bal Shakti Puraskar since the time this award program was started.
Onkar was also appreciated by Smriti Zubair Irani Minister of Women Child Development for writing theoretical books at a very young age.
