KATHUA, Sept 8: District Cyber Cell Kathua under the supervision of SSP Kathua has recovered online defrauded money amounting to Rs 49,500.
As per the case, on July 23, 2024, a complaint was received at Cyber Cell Kathua in which the complainant Mohan Lal of village Jamral in Kathua reported online fraud of Rs. 49,500 from his bank account through remote access of his mobile phone by an application downloaded from illegitimate source.
During investigation, the Cyber Cell Kathua team made hectic efforts and recovered the amount and refunded it to the complainant through Court order while further investigation was underway.
In a handout district Police Kathua has appealed to the general public to remain extra vigilant and report promptly to Cyber Cell Kathua or the National Cyber Crime Helpline Number 1930 or visit www.cybercrime.gov.in if any suspicious call or online cheating is noticed.
