Online Exhibition of Rahi’s works inaugurated

JAMMU, Aug 9: An Online Art Exhibition of the drawings and paintings of veteran artist V S Rahi of New Delhi was inaugurated online by Dr Shehnaz Ganai, former MLC, Jammu & Kashmir, today.
The exhibition was organized by Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA), Jammu to celebrate the 92nd Birth Anniversary of V S Rahi.
Fifty art works including drawings, paintings and B&W paintings by V S Rahi, in typical Rajput Style Painting were displayed in the exhibition. It is an inspiring experience for the new generation artists to have a glimpse of the great artist of the country.
V S Rahi has studied under Ramgopal Vijavargiyanand and Nandlal Bose at Vishva Bharti, Shantiniketan (West Bengal). He has done Diplomas in Fine Arts & Crafts and Fine Arts & Handicrafts from Rajsthan School of Art, Jaipur and Special Advanced Training in Mural. He has displayed his art at national and international levels including displays in Japan, London, Sarjah, America, Bulgaria, Mexico and India.
Rahi is one of the leading artists of the country and has contributed a lot in promoting art at various levels. He has been the advisor of JKCCA Jammu, ex- vice president of All India Fine Arts & Crafts Society (AIFACS), New Delhi and senior advisor- Art Syllabus Committee, Central Board of School Education (CBSE). He has been writing on art in various journals. He has been awarded with various at state and national level by different organizations.
Through his creations he has reflected on the life, faith and traditional practices in the region. His bold and straight forwardedness in statement are quite effective to impress the onlooker. The black & white drawings as well as paintings are equally effective in their visual and aesthetical appeal. Some of the drawings and paintings done in Wash Tempera, which he learnt when he was studying at Shantiniketan, have also been displayed in the exhibition.
