Online lecture on Pt Prem Nath Shastri organised

JAMMU, July 9: An online lecture was organised by Pt Prem Nath Shastri Sanskritik Shodh Sansthan on the life and contributions by Pt Prem Nath Shastri the doyen of Kashmiri culture.
Delivering the talk Pt Omkar Nath Shastri the chairman of the Sansthan said that Late Shastri Ji continued the legacy started by Jyotshi Parivar of Bijebihara started 300 years back by publishing the Vijeshwar Panchang -the Alamanc which is a religious granth for the KP community.
He said late Shastri Ji made many additions to the Panchang to make it a complete dharmic granth for the community so that they can keep it with them in any part of the country or abroad for guidance and keeping them linked to their culture and religion.
Highlighting the contributions of Shastri Ji, Avtar Krishan Jyotshi spokesperson of the Sansthan highlighted various activities taken in hand by it in preserving the culture of the community especially after its displacement from Valley in 1989-90 which though a daunting task was discharged by Jyothsi Karyalya under the patronage of late Shastri Ji who suggested many reforms in the community in accordance to changing times.
He said as the dreaded COVID Pandemic has shaken the mankind across the globe and the Sansthan has decided to perform three days Chandi Mahayagya at holy Shrine of Kheerbhawani at Tulmulla in Kashmir from July 23 to July 25 to pray Goddess to save mankind from the onslaught of this dreaded disease.
He said the Mahaa Yagya will be solemnized under the patronage of Pt Omkar Nath Shastri in which some great religious scholars will participate. The Maha Yagya will culminate on July 25 with Puranahuti and all SOPs of COVID will be maintained strictly during the religious function. The talk was organised by Jyotshi Bushan Lal Shastri senior Executive Member of the Sanshtan.
