Srinagar, Mar 25: With Chief Minister Omar Abdullah set to throw open Asia’s largest Tulip garden tomorrow, authorities have introduced online ticket booking to ease the rush.
Speaking to the media, Shakeel Ur Rehman, Director of the Tulip Garden, said that QR codes and other online facilities have been made available for tourists and visitors to book tickets.
“Our goal is to manage the crowd efficiently. Ticket booking facilities have been set up at the TRC and the garden itself, including QR codes and other gateways,” he said.
He added that the move aims to ensure only ticket holders enter the garden, reducing congestion. He also noted that ticket booking facilities will be available at hotels as well.
Addressing concerns about traffic and parking, the Director said measures are being taken to tackle these issues.
“We are coordinating with the Traffic Police, SMC, and other agencies to increase parking space and manage traffic effectively so that visitors do not face difficulties,” he said.
On the tourist influx, he noted that 4.5 lakh visitors came to the Tulip Garden last year, a number expected to rise this season.
“Last year, the garden opened with several days of Ramadan remaining, but this time, that period has been significantly reduced. We expect to surpass last year’s footfall,” he said.
Regarding the floral display, he stated that 17.5 lakh tulips, along with other attractions, are on display.
As preparations for the grand opening continued throughout the day, authorities revealed that they have experimented with new flower varieties and color schemes to enhance the garden’s appeal.
