Only 4 in fray for Ladakh seat

JAMMU, Apr 23: Another Independent candidate today withdrew from the contest for Ladakh seat reducing number of candidates in the fray to four as last date for withdrawal of nomination papers for Ladakh and Baramulla seats expired today. No nomination was withdrawn in Baramulla seat today, where 15 candidates were in contest.
Official sources said Ghulam Abbas, an Independent candidate today withdrew his nomination in Ladakh seat, leaving four candidate in fray for May 7 election.
The contestants included Thupstan Chhewang (BJP), Tsering Samphel (Congress), Ghulam Raza and Sayeed Mohammad Kazim Sabri (both Independents).
Meanwhile, 15 candidates were left in fray for Baramulla Parliamentary constituency.
They include Ghulam Mohammad Mir of Bharatiya Janata Party, Syed Mohammad Rafiq Shah of National Panthers Party, Mohammad Shafi Bhat of Bahujan Samaj Party, Muzaffar Hussain Baig of People’s Democratic Party, Sharief-ud-Din Shariq of National Conference, Ayaz Ahmad Sofi of Gareeb Aadmi Party, Bashir Ahmad Jagal of PRISM, Salam-ud-Din Bajad of Peoples Conference besides Tanveer Hussain, Ashiq Hussain Ganie, Abdul Hussain, Abdul Hamid Malik, Er. Abdul Rashid Sheikh, Mohammad Abdullah Chatwal and Nisar Ahmad Ahangar, all Independents.
