SRINAGAR, Dec 31: The Jammu and Kashmir OBC Welfare Forum held an extraordinary meeting under the chairmanship of Gh.Hassan Sheer Gojrie its President today.
The other leaders who attend the meeting through virtual mode included Nazir Ahmad Teli Pulwama, Gh. Qadir Kralwari, Dr. Javid Ahmad Budgam, Gh. Qadir Kumar, Ab. Rehman Hajam, Noor Mohammad, Abdul Karim Hajam Kulgam, Mohd. Salim Dhobi, Ashiq Ahmad Rajouri, Ab. Rashid Foji Poonch, Mohd. Younis, Gh. Mohd. Wagay, Gh. Mohd. Banihal, Gh. Qadir Kupwara and Gh. Qadir Budgam.
The Forum expressed its gratitude to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi , Home Minister, Amit Shah , Union Minister, Jitendra Singh and LG, Manoj Sinha for changing the nomenclature of Social Caste to OBC and for the approval of OBC reservation in Panchayat Raj institutions. These all developments have happened in BJP Government after 70 years of oppression to OBCs of Jammu and Kashmir. The Forum demanded 27% reservation in employments, and PRIs for OBCs, uniform rules, criteria for determining the creamy layer status for both the, Central level and UT level OBC certificate.
It also demanded OBC Bhawan in Srinagar and Jammu with OBC Hostels in all the districts, allotment of land for landless OBCs for the construction of houses under PMAY (Grameen) and PMAY (Urban).
