KATHUA, Apr 8: Former Sadr-e-Riyasat Dr Karan Singh today claimed that only Congress party can satiate the desires of all the sections of society by addressing the grievances of people without any discrimination.
“Unlike BJP, which is busy in doing ‘Chowkidari’ of a select lot of people and completely ignoring the deserving sections, it is the only Congress party, which takes care of all section of society and can ensure equitable share of development to all,” he said while addressing a series of well-attended public meetings in Hiranagar, Nagri-Parol, Barwal and Kathua.
Highlighting the failures of Government on all fronts, the veteran Congress leader alleged that BJP left people of Jammu and Kashmir lurching for basic amenities with complete absence of governance in the State.
He also accused BJP of trying to politicize the Balakote strikes by making extravagant and unverified claims of casualties inflicted on terrorists. “On the very day that the Indian Air Force made the strike, Rahul Gandhi had proclaimed that the Congress was fully supportive of our outstanding Armed forces in successfully carrying out any task assigned to them. However, the BJP sought to politicize the strike by making extravagant and unverified claims of casualties inflicted,” he said .
Terming Pulwama terror attack as a major security lapse, Dr Karan Singh hoped that a high-level inquiry was being conducted into the lapses in the first place.
Recalling his ancestral ties with people of the State going back five generations to the founder of J&K, Maharaja Gulab Singh, the scion of erstwhile Royal Dogra family appealed voters to re-connect with the family by electing his son Vikramaditya Singh, who is Congress candidate from Udhampur-Doda-Kathua Parliamentary Constituency.
Meanwhile, AICC secretary and Incharge J&K, Sudhir Sharma met Dr Karan Singh along with former Minister Yogesh Sawhney to discuss planning and agenda of the party in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
Sudhir Sharma delivered suggestions of the party high-command and also put forward his own suggestions for making election campaigning more efficient. He highlighted the party’s promise of “minimum income guarantee” for the poorest in the country fixing the amount at Rs 72,000 per annum. He also encouraged Youth Congress members to actively participate in the campaigning process and provide impetus for promotion of youth involvement and opportunities for themselves.
