JAMMU, Feb 8: Chairman, Federation of Industries Jammu (FoIJ), Lalit Mahajan today said that only FoIJ represents industrial sector in Jammu province while JCCI is being represented by Trade bodies having no representation from industries bodies.
An emergency meeting of the Federation of Industries Jammu was held today under the Chairmanship of Lalit Kumar Mahajan in the presence of Rattan Dogra, Jatinder Aul, Ajit Lal Bawa, Vijay Aggarwal, Deepak Dhawan Co-Chairmen Federation of Industries Jammu and Ravi Mangaloria president Associated Chamber of Commerce & Industries Udhampur in which it was unanimously resolved that Federation of Industries, Jammu is an amalgamation of Industrial Associations of Jammu Province which includes Bari Brahmana, Gangyal, Digiana, Birpur, Samba, Kathua and Udhampur working as a major stakeholder for the development of Industrial Sector in our State and represent in all the Government Departments related to Industrial Sector of J&K whereas, the Jammu Chamber of Commerce is being represented by the Trade associations without any representation of Industrial associations of Jammu province.
It is worthwhile to mention here that the Industrial Sector of J&K is surviving only due to Toll Tax exemption granted by the Government for the last so many years keeping in mind to meet the stiff competition by Industrial units from outside the State in respect of goods being manufactured by the Industrial units of the State and at present around four lakh people of the State earning their lively hood as employed directly or indirectly by the Industrial sector which is equal to the State Govt employment.
It has been learnt that Government is in the process of constituting a Committee to resolve the Toll Tax for which we request the Governor Satya Pal Malik for the inclusion of Federation of Industries, Jammu as one of the members in the said committee.
