JAMMU, Aug 4: Panun Kashmir today said that it is the Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) alone who have a right to decide about their mode of resettlement in Kashmir, adding KPs as the indigenous people of Kashmir have a rightful claim on the territory of Kashmir and no power can deny them their right.
Prof ML Raina, chairman, Political Affairs Committee (PAC) said that the creation of a separate homeland in Kashmir for the seven lakh Kashmiri Hindus is the only way out to resettle the victims of genocide and ethnic cleansing in Kashmir on a permanent basis. “This will give the displaced Pandit community the sense of security they need in Kashmir, where they have faced persecution and mass exodus, and are living as refugees in their own country”, he added.
He was speaking during a meeting of the PAC held here today to take stock of the current political situation in the State. The meeting among others was attended by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, president, Panun Kashmir, Virender Raina, National spokesperson and Upinder Kaul, general secretary.
Chrungoo in his address said, “The security scenario in Kashmir is a matter of great concern for the Indian nation. The recent reports regarding the radicalization of the youth in Kashmir are disturbing phenomenon and the Government needs to nip the evil in the bud”. He said that keeping in view the alarming situation, the Indian defense apparatus needs to strengthen its security grid as Pakistan is trying its level best to infiltrate terrorists into the Indian Territory.
Virender Raina said that in the forthcoming NSA level talks, Pakistan needs to be told in the categorical terms about the commitment of the India towards the unanimous Parliamentary resolution of 1994 regarding the state of J&K, which inter alia said that ‘the only thing that needs resolution is the reclamation of the parts of J&K in the illegal occupation of Pakistan and also the territory illegally ceded by Pakistan to China’.
