Open admissions for all students under Cluster University demanded

JAMMU, Oct 8: Students who have applied for admissions in Cluster University today held a protest at Cluster University campus GGM Science College here against the dictatorial attitude of administration regarding the admission process in the colleges coming under the Cluster University.
Hundreds of the aspirants who are struggling to get the admission in the city colleges for the session 2020-21 were treated mercilessly and were bluntly refused by the university administration for admission.
After seeing the dictatorial attitude of the administration, the aspirants under the leadership of Atul Sudan UT Vice President JJSF started raising slogans against the Cluster University administration.
Meanwhile aspirants of MAM College, SPMR College of Commerce, GCW College and GGM Science College joined the protest under the leadership of Anshu Sharma, Sahil Choudhary, Aaskit Kolhi and Gourav Dubey.
The students marched towards Jammu University to present the memorandum to VC Cluster University but they were restrained by the police force resulting in students blocking the canal road for two hours.
Addressing the gathering, Atul Sudan said that it is very unfortunate that instead of increasing the capacity of the city colleges the administration in connivance with the Government reduced the capacity from almost 15000 to 6000 for this session.
Sudan said that they will fight tooth and nail for the rights of students and we will struggle till the every last student is admitted in the colleges under university. He said that it is responsibility of university authorities find out way out so that future of more than 10 thousand students can be saved.
Meanwhile, the Police team reached the spot and DySP Headquarters gave patient hearing to the grievances of the students and assured them that she will talk to University Administration to resolve the matter. On her assurance the students with an ultimatum of 3 days lifted the protest dharna.
Students demanded open admissions for all students under Cluster University. They said Cluster University should increase the intake capacity of all colleges or they should start evening colleges to give admissions to all which is their basic right.
