Open Kargil-Askardu route, Sharda Temple: Soz

SRINAGAR, Nov 30: Former Union minister and veteran Congress leader Prof Saifuddin Soz today urged upon the Governments of India and Pakistan to open Kargil-Askardu Road and the historic Sharda Temple, situated in Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
“I urge the Govts of India and the Pakistan to agree to the opening of Kargil-Askardu Road and the road to ancient Sharda Temple to honour the aspirations of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh region,” Soz said.
The Cong leader said that the people of Kargil district had close relationship with Askardu. In fact, people of both areas happen to be having common culture, language and ethnicity. The demand for opening this route has been voiced by people of Kargil for decades. He further said that the demand of Kashmiri Pandit community for opening road to ancient Sharda Temple is very genuine and it would be a great gesture to respect the aspirations of the devotees to open this temple, Soz added.
