JAMMU, Nov 26: Save Sharda Committee Kashmir has welcomed the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister, Imran Khan for reopening Kartarpur Gurudwara in Pakistan recently. The Gurudwara was reopened for the first time after 72 years. Save Sharda Committee head Ravinder Pandita visited the Gurduwara on November 24 after seeking necessary permission – the first Kashmiri Hindu to visit the Kartarpur Corridor.
He presented a memorandum to Kartarpur Gurudwara Prabandak Committee through their senior member S. Inderjit Singh there. He also honoured the member with Sharda Samman and congratulated the Prabhandak Committee for their efforts. A large number of devotees were present inside the Gurudwara complex on Sunday- the highest after opening the corridor.
Save Sharda Committee is constantly pursuing the Sharda issue and watching the developments, particularly in the wake of recent visit of Pakistan Hindu Council led by Dr. Ramesh Vankwani.
Ravinder Pandita, who is leading the movement has indicated that initially Pakistani Hindus from various provinces will be allowed to take pilgrimages followed by Kashmiri Hindus in next phase. Save Sharda Committee has welcomed the decision of allowing Hindus to the Peeth for the first time in last 72 years. Meanwhile Save Sharda Committee has once again reiterated the demand to both Prime Ministers on reopening of Sharda Peeth on the lines of Kartarpur Corridor. “ If I can visit a shrine in Pakistan on a special permit- why not Sharda. How can there be two standards for the same person,. My LoC permit to visit Sharda was rejected by Indian authorities this year “ alleged Ravinder Pandita, Head of Save Sharda Committee Kashmir.
The Committee has come into prominence after getting flowers laid at Sharda Peeth in POK in 2006. Later in March’ 2007 through the Civil Society of POK a photo of Sharda Mai was installed there in the temple and in January this year, the Committee secured a landmark judgement on the preservation of Sharda Peeth by Supreme Court of PoK and another order on preservation of sanctity of the Peeth vide order No: 9973-80 dated 31.12.2018 received from DG Archaeology & Tourism POK.
