Operational capacities, patient care being further enhanced at SMVDNSH

KAKRYAL, Mar 1: The 61st meeting of Governing Body of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital (SMVDNSH), Kakryal, was held here for taking several decisions for future growth of the hospital and further enhancing its operational capacities and standards of patient care in tune with the futuristic requirements.
The Governing Body emphasized the need for optimum utilization of available manpower, equipment and infrastructural facilities and strengthening other wherewithal, wherever required, for enhanced standards of patient care. In this context, the meeting also emphasised upon the hospital management to increase the frequency and duration of the visits of the reputed consultants from other NH hospitals to the SMVDNSH Kakryal in the required specialities in the best interest of the patient care. The meeting was informed that several renowned doctors are likely to join this hospital in the coming months in varied specialities.
Dr Ashok Bhan, Member Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Body of the SMVDNSH, chaired the meeting and Maj Gen S K Sharma (Retd), Member Shrine Board; Ramesh Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board; Viren Shetty, Group Chief Operating Officer, NH; and Cdr Navneet Bali, Director, Northern Region, NH; who all are Members of the Governing Body, participated in the deliberations.
The GB was further informed that in consonance with the decision of its previous meeting, the ICU beds have been increased from 24 to 40 recently thereby considerably strengthening critical care in this tertiary care hospital.
Analysing the feedback and suggestions of the patients and their attendants during the past months, the GB stressed that prompt action should be taken on each and every feedback as this would go a long way in continuously improving the delivery systems in the hospital. In furtherance of these objectives, it was stated that the hospital is organising structured programmes and skill upgrading sessions for upgrading soft skills of the staff on continuing basis.
Reviewing the outreach activities and medical camps organised by the hospital in the recent past and those planned for the coming months, the GB suggested that such activities need to be further enhanced, particularly in the remote areas of Rajouri, Reasi, Udhampur, Bhadarwah, Kishtwar, Ramban and Kathua. Several other new initiatives for facilitation of patients and their attendants were also discussed.
