Opium valuing around Rs 10 lakh seized

JAMMU, June 13: Police today seized 2 kilograms of opium (afeem) valuing around Rs 10 lakh from Transport Nagar, Narwal.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team led by SP South Uday Bhaskar Billa and accompanied by SDPO East Mohammad Rafiq, SHO Trikuta Nagar police station Inspector Naveen Angral and incharge police post Narwal PSI Vishal Kumar conducted a raid in Shop Number 87, Yard Number 1, Transport Nagar, Narwal in presence of Magistrate.
After having sniff about police raid, the accused identified as Faryad Ali of Bhatindi escaped from the spot after locking his shop.
Police break-open the locks of the shop in presence of Magistrate and during search of the shop, recovered 2 kilograms of opium (afeem).
A case under FIR Number 138/15 under Section 8/21 narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Trikuta Nagar and manhunt has been launched to nab the accused.
