SRINAGAR, July 22: The highly-anticipated Hollywood biographical thriller film, ‘Oppenheimer,’ has made its grand debut on the screens, leaving the audience in Srinagar both awe-struck and enthralled.
The Christopher Nolan-directed masterpiece revolves around the life of the renowned physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer and has received an overwhelmingly positive response from moviegoers here.
The film’s release took place on July 21, and in keeping with the fervent demand, it was simultaneously screened at the recently opened INOX Multiplex in Shivpora.
Vikas Dhar, the owner of INOX Multiplex, expressed their commitment to ensuring the movie’s premiere was not to be missed. “We were well-informed about the anticipation surrounding the film and made sure it was screened on the day of its worldwide release,” he said.
From the very first show, the cinema hall witnessed packed houses, as the eager audience was completely engrossed in the film’s gripping narrative, stellar performances, and Nolan’s trademark visual brilliance.
On its opening day, ‘Oppenheimer’ garnered a full-house response, and the same trend continued today. The movie is expected to draw similar crowds on Sunday, with multiple shows already fully booked.
“We ran several shows on Friday, and the response from the audience was phenomenal. Saturday was no different, and we are already seeing a high demand for Sunday’s shows,” Vikas Dhar elaborated, attributing this response to the refined taste of the audience here, particularly when it comes to Hollywood films.
One of the moviegoers, who identified himself as Basit, said: “I am thrilled to see the people embracing the movie with such enthusiasm. The film’s success here is a testament to the universal appeal of its story and the passion for cinema in this region.”
Interestingly, the reception of Hollywood movies in Srinagar has been on par with Bollywood films, as evident from the fact that all three currently running films at the multiplex are Hollywood productions, including ‘Mission Impossible,’ ‘Barbie,’ and ‘Oppenheimer’-all released in July-and have witnessed immense response.
‘Oppenheimer’ boasts a star-studded cast, featuring Hollywood heavyweights, and has been generating buzz since its initial announcement. The film beautifully captures the life and scientific contributions of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the brilliant mind behind the development of the atomic bomb during World War II.
Moviegoer, Shariq Ahmed, expressed his enthusiasm after watching the film, saying, “Oppenheimer was an incredible cinematic experience. The storytelling was mesmerizing, and I was deeply moved by the performance of the lead actor. Christopher Nolan has once again proven his mastery in crafting a compelling narrative.”
Another film enthusiast praised the film’s historical accuracy and said, “As a history enthusiast, ‘Oppenheimer’ exceeded my expectations. It portrayed the events with such precision; it is remarkable.”
