Opposition alleges backdoor appointments in J&K

SRINAGAR :  Asking members to give proof about alleged backdoor appointments being made on the recommendations of minister and ruling party leaders, Speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Mubarak Gul today said he will order an inquiry once he gets proof.
“Give me proof about backdoor appointments, I will order an inquiry,” Mr Gul announced in the Legislative Assembly after opposition member alleged that despite ban, people are being appointed in different departments on the recommendations of minister and ruling party leaders.
Raising the issue in the House after Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather made statement on employees’ strike, leader of the National Panthers Party in the House Haresh Dev Singh said, “despite a ban on engaging any daily wager, people are still being appointed on recommendations from  ministers.”
He said in his constituency many appointments were made in different departments.
Leader of the Opposition of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti said, “Backdoor appointments are going on in the state on political considerations.”
She said hundreds of retired personnel have been re-engaged by this government when there are lakhs of unemployed youths in the state.
“Does the government believe that we have no talent in the state and therefore retired personnel are re-engaged,” she asked.
Demanding immediate stop on all backdoor appointments, BJP member Chaman Lal Gupta said, “We have orders of appointment issued on the recommendations of minister.”
When PDP mmbers also alleged backdoor appointments in their respective areas, the Speaker said, “I will order an inquiry into backdoor appointments if any proof is provided.”
PDP member from Pahalgam Rafi Ahmad Mir alleged that more than 40 backdoor appointments were made in the horticulture  department.
