JAMMU, Aug 25: Hitting out at Opposition parties including National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party and Congress for promising to restore the controversial Article 370 and 35 A which was annulled by Narendra Modi Government, BJP national president, Mahila Morcha Vanathi Srinivasan accused them of befooling the people of UT for their vote bank politics.
Talking to reporters here, today at the sidelines of a party meeting, she said abrogation of Article 370 and 35 –A was a Constitutional amendment and one wonders how these parties can restore it on their own.
Srinivasan said that the Article 370 was a discriminatory Article which had subjected the people of J&K to great injustice and people suffered for decades together due to this controversial Article. The people of J&K especially the younger generation are happy after abrogation of this article. They want to lead a peaceful life and see development takes place which is the agenda of Modi Government.
She also lambasted the NC for changing the name of Hari Parbhat and Shankracharya hill locks of Srinagar in its manifesto.
She while highlighting the role of Mahila Morcha said the Morcha in J&K is doing a good job and they are very active in the UT. During Parliament elections they also did a good work and they are mobilizing their cadre from booth level to Shakti Kendras and constituency level programmes to ensure the victory of party candidates in Assembly elections.
She said that she has asked her party cadre in UT to visit every nook and corner of J&K and highlight the various programmes launched by Modi Government for the upliftment and empowerment of women all over the country.
She said after abrogation of 370 the women got their rights on land especially the Scheduled Caste women. Besides, various schemes were launched for their upliftment and empowerment irrespective of their religion caste and region, she added.

Terming the rape of a female doctor highly unfortunate, she said that State Government is not taking steps to ensure safety of women.
The BJP leader said it is not the first case in the Bengal but since 2011 many such incidents took place there. The people are on roads demanding justice for women and Mamta Banerjee has to pay a heavy price for it.
