Opposition indulging in negative politics: Balbir

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Sept 23: BJP State spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan today said that opposition parties in J&K have nothing constructive to do nor they are left with any issues other than criticizing the governments both at the Centre and in the State.
Responding to  statements of Congress and NC almost on regular basis, he said that  at a time when the opposition parties were expected to play a constructive role and offer to work in tandem with government to douse the flames of unrest in Kashmir, these parties are, instead, igniting and flaring the matters up in a manner where the arguments and contentions of the leaders of opposition appear ridiculous. This breast beating and chest thumping only for the sake of politics and attacking the government has left them exposed, the BJP leader said.
It is most unfortunate that during the last over 65 days, when the Narendra Modi led government at the Centre and BJP coalition in the State are working round the clock to restore peace and normalcy in the State, the role of opposition parties has remained just indulging in negative politics, he said, adding that State BJP terms it as display of unhealthy politics. Instead of being positive players, few leaders of Congress and NC worked to flare up the situation. Not even a single word of condemnation on stone pelting or mob attacks on security forces has been uttered by these parties, the BJP leader rued.
Balbir further  said that after the recent attack in Uri, the entire world has taken a clear line against Pakistan, which is the outcome of Narendra Modi’s diplomatic efforts. The opposition parties should have felt convinced, if not hailed the measures but they seem to be hell bent upon opposing and criticizing every action and policy of the government, without analyzing the significance of the same, the BJP spokesperson lamented.
How much serious the Union government has been towards unrest in Kashmir is clear from the fact that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh visited twice in a month in valley followed by visit of All Party delegation and none other than the country’s PM holding All Party meet at New Delhi, all to defuse the situation and restore normalcy in Kashmir. The approval for recruiting 10,000 youth of the State as SPOs is a move which shows that Modi government want to provide opportunity to  the unemployed misguided youth of the State, Kashmir in particular, to stand on their own legs and earn livelihood in dignified manner, he observed while taking a dig at the baseless noises of opposition.
