JAMMU, Apr 16: Different political parties and social organizations today strongly condemned the repeated incidents of targeted killings of innocents in Kashmir Valley terming it as a dangerous phenomenon and urged the Government to check such attacks at all costs.
In a joint statement after threadbare discussion on the overall socio -political and the security situation emerging in J&K, the senior leaders representing different political parties and social organizations regretted that the Government has utterly failed to arrest the situation leading to the atmosphere of fear amongst innocent people including PRIs, minorities and non-locals in the valley.
The meeting also expressed grave concern over attempts to create wedge among communities and disturb religious brotherhood and harmony by various provocative means like the highly condemnable incident of vandalism at Sidhra temple. Demanding immediate action against culprits to expose the conspiracy, the statement appealed to the people to rise against such communal and mischievous forces and not to allow peace and harmony to be disturbed at any cost.
The meeting also took strong exceptions to the mode, manner and the procedure adopted, so far, by the Delimitation Commission as the draft report has caused grave injustice and inconvenience to the people in most parts due to non-adherence of different settled principle and parameters for the delimitation exercise. The Commission has not bothered to visit different districts or give a fair and patient hearing to the genuinely aggrieved people and areas from its draft report which has created an impression that the Commission would not be able to do justice to the people, they added and demanded that the Commission should consider all genuine objections and representations against its draft report.
The statement demanded that the Prime Minister should honour the commitment on the floor of the Parliament regarding restoration of Statehood, without any further delay, followed by early Assembly elections.
The meeting was jointly convened under the aegis of All Parties United Morcha and chaired by Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak ( Dogra Sadar Sabha), and attended by the leaders of different political and social organizations like Sheikh Abdul Rehman (EX-MP), Rattan Lal Gupta (NC Provincial President), Ravinder Sharma (Chief Spokesperson PCC), Narinder Khajuria, ID Khajuria (Convenor- APUM), CPIM – Comrade Hari Singh, Comrade Pritam Singh, Comrade Sukhdev Singh, Shahid Saleem Mir, and Sardar Nirmal Singh .
