SRINAGAR : Declaring that there would be no compromise on the security of the nation, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley today said that he was optimistic about the overall situation in the Jammu and Kashmir. The Lok Sabha elections were held peacefully and a good tourist season was going in in the state, particularly in the Kashmir, Mr Jaitley told reporters here this afternoon. He expressed the hope that annual Amarnath yatra, commencing from June 28 in south Kashmir Himalyas and general assembly elections, due later this year will also conclude peacefully.
The defence minister said there are attempts of incursion from across the border in the state. But, he said, troops guarding the borders are capable to meet any challenge.
Troops are taking the decision as per situation on the borders, he said and declared that there would be no compromise on security of the nation.
