SRINAGAR, Oct 23: The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) Jammu & Kashmir, in collaboration with the National Assessment Center PARAKH, conducted a one-day orientation program on the Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024, formerly known as the National Achievement Survey.
The event, held at the SCERT JK Divisional Office in Kashmir, aimed to prepare for the upcoming survey scheduled for December 4, 2024.
Inaugurating the program, Professor (Dr) Parikshat Singh Manhas, Director of SCERT JK, emphasized the survey’s critical role in evaluating the effectiveness of school education at the system level.
He underscored the importance of optimizing resources to ensure the success of this national assessment, which is designed to identify educational gaps and guide improvements.
Professor Indani Bhaduri, CEO of PARAKH, delivered a keynote address detailing the strategic objectives of the 2024 survey.
She highlighted its significance in assessing student competencies across key educational stages—Foundational, Preparatory, and Middle—specifically for students in Grades III, VI, and IX.
Bhaduri stated that the survey findings would provide actionable insights to enhance education quality across the nation.
Roshan Lal, Joint Director of SCERT, welcomed attendees, including DIET Principals from across Jammu & Kashmir, reiterating the importance of collaboration between SCERT and DIETs for seamless survey execution.
The program featured technical sessions led by Ranjeet Singh Manhas, Head of the Assessment Cell, and Ghulam Hassan Reshi, Programme Coordinator, who discussed the operational framework and roles of Field Investigators (FIs) in data collection.
Additional insights on the survey’s methodology were shared by Dr Preetam from PARAKH and Dr Nazneen, emphasizing the need for thorough training at the district level.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Basharat Saleem, Senior Academic Officer, SCERT JK, who appreciated participants’ engagement and the collaborative efforts of the SCERT and PARAKH teams.
A follow-up meeting with DIET Principals is scheduled to finalize Field Investigators and operational activities, with the survey poised to inform critical educational reforms at both state and national levels.
