JAMMU, May 14: Jammu Orthodontic Study Group (JOSG) was officially launched on the occasion of World Orthodontic Health Day celebrations here.
The event was organised by Dr Akshay Gupta, Professor& Head Department of Orthodontics, Indira Gandhi Govt Dental College Jammu.
Indian Orthodontic Society (IOS) is having more than 5500 members across the country and there are 44 Orthodontic Study Groups in 16 States and 3 UTs. JOSG becomes the 45th Study Group, recognized by Indian Orthodontic Society and the first and only study group of the J&K UT.
Prof Rajnikant (Dean research University of Jammu) graced the occasion as chief guest. He along with Dr Romesh Singh (Ex Principal IGGDC Jammu), Dr Parveen Lone (Incharge Principal IGGDC Jammu) , Dr Akshay Gupta and other founding members officially inaugurated the JOSG at this event.
JOSG is a group of Orthodontists who are passionate about advancing their knowledge and skills in the field of Orthodontics.
Dr Akshay Gupta, in his welcome address, informed that JOSG has now become the first and only eligible group to conduct national & international events in the future in J&K.
Prof Rajnikant addressed the event and promised to extend every possible facility for the research and academic activities to be held by the group in the future. Dr Goutam Mengi (Ex Principal IGGDCJ), in his telephonic message, conveyed his best wishes to the JOSG.
Dr Parveen Akhtar Lone, in her address, highlighted the journey of Dental health education in Jammu and the tireless and sincere efforts of Dr Akshay Gupta for spreading awareness among the people of Jammu about orthodontics and its role in improving quality of life.
Dr Rakesh Gupta (Principal and Dean IGGDC Jammu) emphasized the importance of study groups and encouraged the members to have such great events in the future.
Dr Balvinder Singh Thakkar, President IOS and Dr Sanjay Labh, Secretary IOS addressed the audience.
CME programme was conducted by Dr Sukhdeep Singh Kahlon (Prof & Head Department of Orthodontics Shri Guru Ramdas Dental College & Hospital Amritsar) on the topic “Management of Cleft Lip and palate patients”.
Co-founder members namely Dr Iqbal Singh, Dr Rishabh Gupta, Dr Abhimanyu Rohmetra, Dr Rohit Gupta, Dr Anur Gupta, Dr Aseem Sharma, Dr Tanushree, Dr Simran Kour, Dr Arti Devi, Dr Nikita Gupta, Dr Madhav and Dr Aditi Sharma were present on the occasion.
