JAMMU, May 10: The Health Centre, University of Jammu today organized a one-day Orthopedic health camp wherein more than 160 patients were examined by Dr Abdul Ghani, Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon, Govt Medical College, Jammu, along with his team of doctors including Physiotherapist and Dietician.
Prof R D Sharma, Vice Chancellor, JU, formally inaugurated the health camp in the presence of Dean Academic Affairs (DAA), Prof Poonam Dhawan and others. Speaking on the occasion, he said that such camps give an opportunity to all the employees of University to get their regular checkups and hoped that these should be a regular feature in future as well. He also informed the audience that the university health centre has state of art facilities which would be continually upgraded from time to time to make it a model health care unit.
Prof Poonam Dhawan assured all her support in the collective endeavors of Health Centre, University of Jammu and experts from medical college.
Dr Abdul Ghani apprised that in the camp, most of the people with various ailments like neck pain, cervical spondylosis, low backache, osteoarthritis etc were examined. He also cautioned and advised that people should adopt active life style besides limiting their overuse of modern electronic gadgets like mobiles and computers. Healthy food, regular exercise along with timely health visits to doctors should be followed by all, the learned doctor opined.
Earlier, Prof Yash Pal Sharma, Head, Dept of Botany and Convener Health Centre Advisory Committee, informed the Vice Chancellor and the Dean Academic Affairs about the various health camps and awareness lectures which were being organized by the University Health Centre from time to time.
Dr Shabana Azmi, CMO, University Health Centre, supervised the overall activities of the health camp while Dr Gautam Sharma, Dental Surgeon, conducted the proceedings during the camp.
