JAMMU, Sept 30: Dr (Prof) Sanjeev Gupta and Dr (Prof) Narendra Sharma today took charge as Head of Departments (HoDs) of Orthopedics and Radio-diagnosis, Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu respectively.
Dr Sanjeev Gupta, well known Orthopedician and academician of the State, took over as HoD Orthopedics on the superannuation of Dr Anil Gupta while Dr Narendra Sharma took charge of the HoD Radio-diagnosis Department on superannuation of Dr Ghanshyam Dev.
Dr Sanjeev Gupta did his schooling from RIMC Dehradun, MBBS and Masters training of Orthopedics from Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and further training from University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) New Delhi where he also worked before proceeding to the United Kingdom where he worked at Plymouth Medical School for three years.
Dr Gupta did his MRCS training in the United Kingdom and was on rolls of General Medical Council, London. He has been working as a faculty in the GMC Jammu since 2008 and has many reputed international and national publications to his credit.
Dr Gupta is an expert of joint replacement and limb reconstruction and has vast experience in treating various Orthopedic conditions. His main area of focus as the HoD will be improving patient care by providing treatment at par with international standards to the Orthopedic patients. He plans to raise standard of academic and research activities of the department.
Dr Narendra Sharma did his MBBS from the Government Medical College Jammu in 1983 and MD (Radio-diagnosis) from the same institute in 1991 under guidance of Prof Inder Singh.
Dr Sharma’s main thrust will be to improve academics and patient care.
