Over 2 dozen militants killed in eastern Afghanistan

MAIDAN SHAR, AFGHANISTAN: At least 25 militants have been confirmed killed as mop-up operations have been continuing in Afghanistan’s eastern Wardak province, Interior Ministry spokesman Nasrat Rahimi said Monday.
A main base of the insurgents has also been destroyed during the operations overseen by Deputy Interior Minister General Khoshal Sadat, Rahimi said, adding the crackdown would last until the area is cleared of the armed insurgents.
The spokesman did not say if there were casualties on security personnel.
Taliban militants, who are operational in parts of Wardak province with Maidan Shar as its capital 35 km west of Kabul, have yet to make comment on the report.
