JAMMU, Feb 7: Over two dozen people were injured today when a Rajouri bound passenger bus collided with a car near Chowki Choura in Akhnoor area of city outskirts.
“The accident took place this afternoon in Bardaal Kappcala area, about 18 kilometres from Akhnoor town,” police sources said. They said that the bus was on its way to Rajouri from Jammu when while negotiating a sharp turn, it collided with a car coming from the opposite direction and overturned on it.
In the mishap, the driver of the car and other occupants had a miraculous escape with some minor injuries while over two dozen passengers of the bus also received minor injuries.
On getting information of the mishap, a police team from police post Chowki Choura reached to the spot and started rescue operation. Meanwhile, SDPO Akhnoor, Deputy SP Ajay Sharma also reached the spot along with SHO Akhnoor Pradeep Sharma and personally supervised the entire rescue operation.
While 15 injured passengers were shifted to Chowki Choura Hospital, some were shifted to Sub District Hospital, Akhnoor, from where around 14 of them were referred to Government Medical College, Jammu.
In this connection, a case was registered under relevant sections at police station Akhnoor and further investigation started.
