NEW DELHI, May 16: The Government today said over 3.74 lakh applications under the Right to Information Act have been filed till May 10 since 2011.
“As per the quarterly returns uploaded by Central Public Authorities on the website of the Central Information Commission till May 10, 2012, a total number of 3,74,048 RTI applications were received during 2011-12,” Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions V Narayanasamy told Lok Sabha in a written reply.
The minister said the information commission shall impose a penalty of Rs 250 each day in case public information officer has refused to received an application within the specified time or malafidely denied the request for information. (PTI)
