JAMMU, Feb 2: Over 3400 Kanals of the State land was freed from the clutches of the land grabbers in four districts of Jammu Division on Thursday, an official said.
“In a series of eviction drives launched in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, and Ramban districts, 3430 Kanals of the State land was retrieved by the revenue and police teams,” he said.
Pertinently, highest 1841 Kanals of the State land was freed from land grabbers of Dinga Amb, Basohli, Lohai Malhar, Mahanpur, Nagri Parole and Kathua town areas of Kathua district followed by 1294 Kanals of the State land freed from the grabbers from across the eight Tehsils of Ramban District.
While 290 Kanals of the State land was freed during the anti-encroachment drives at Thalwal, Dungian (Bahu), Dhok Khalsa (Jourian) and Mishriwala areas of Jammu District, 5 Kanals of the State land was retrieved from the possession of a former bureaucrat and his wife from Bari Brahamana area of Samba District.
The District administrations in all the four Districts have asked the officers to remain alert for continuing similar drives in future as well.
