Over 800 stranded passengers evacuated to Zanskar

KARGIL, Apr 28: UT Administration of Ladakh evacuated over 800 passengers of Zanskar stranded in Leh due to ongoing countrywide lockdown triggered by COVID-19 pandemic.
Over 230 passengers including drivers and helpers were shifted in 4 SRTC buses, 25 light vehicles for Zanskar today morning from Leh.
Moreover, 1 truck, 2 tankers and 2 vehicles of BRO also left for Zanskar.
Meanwhile, 610 stranded passengers moved in 4 SRTC buses and 66 light passengers who had arrived Zanskar on Sunday were shifted to their destinations after proper screening for COVID-19 at Akshow by BMO Zanskar, Dr. Zangpo with the help of Dr. Omkar of 126 RCC BRO.
SDM Zanskar, Sonam Dorjay, SHO Zanskar and Magistrates were also present on the occasion and advised the passengers to quarantine themselves at their homes for 14 days.
Meanwhile, the passengers of Lungnak Block including drivers were provided free boarding and lodging facilities by the Sub Divisional Administration at TRC and Dak Bungalow Padum.
A total of 56 passengers of Lungnak Block were sent to Lungnak on Monday from Dak Bungalow Padum in private taxis engaged by the administration.
The passengers were accompanied by Sector Magistrates and police personnel up to Cha.
