JAMMU, Dec 9: A group of J&K Police Constable aspirants staged a demonstration here, near Press Club demanding age relaxation for J&K PSI examination.
A group of youngsters, who could not apply for the constable posts, due to being over-age, assembled outside Press Club Jammu and raised slogans against the administration for not providing them a level-playing field.
The demonstrators, primarily youngsters who were deemed over-age for the posts, expressed their disappointment with the administration for what they termed an “unfair denial of opportunity.”
Raising slogans against the administration, the protesters highlighted their grievances, claiming they had been waiting for years to apply for police posts. “We had also dreamt of joining the police force and serving the nation, but the administration’s failure to conduct timely examinations robbed us of this opportunity,” said a youth leader representing the protesters.
The aspirants alleged that the prolonged delay in conducting recruitment exams led many to cross the upper age limit. Despite submitting representations to the Lieutenant Governor, political parties, and other officials, their requests for age relaxation have gone unheard.
“Now that the recruitment process for J&K Police Constable posts has already begun, we urge LG Manoj Sinha to grant a minimum of five years’ age relaxation for J&K PSI posts. This will provide us with a fair chance to fulfill our aspirations,” the protesters stated.
