JAMMU, Nov 5: Several overaged candidates have appealed the LG administration and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to provide them with the benefits of age relaxation in the JKP SI examination.
Addressing the media persons during a protest here, social activist Mehran Anjum Mir said that he, along with other aspirants, have been staging demonstrations and submitting memorandums to different forums, including the Lieutenant Governor, seeking age relaxation benefits for overage candidates in view of the conduct of the JKP SI examination after 8 years.
“But thus far, our requests have fallen on the deaf ears,” he said.
Pointing out that SSC and other States as well as UTs of the country had given age relaxation due to Corona Pandemic (COVID -19), Mehran said that these setbacks have had a devastating impact, leaving many young people overaged and unable to pursue their dreams of securing Government jobs.
Moreover, he added, there were alleged recruitment scams, question paper leaks and delay in recruitment in J&K.
“This recruitment was scheduled to be conducted in 2016 but unfortunately this is going to happen after eight years with the result the aspirants whose age was 27- 28 years that time, are now 34-35 years and almost over aged,” he explained and reiterated that the Government should give age relaxation to such aspirants who were waiting since last 8 years for the JKP Constable recruitment.
Mehran urged the Government to step in and correct this injustice by allowing age relaxation for those who have been caught in this unfortunate cycle.
