SRINAGAR, Aug 4: An overnight cloudburst occurred in a forest area of Shangus in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The cloudburst took place at around 3 am in the forest area of Nowgam village of Shangus in district. The cloudburst led to flash floods in a local stream and also entered orchards, they said.
There was, however, no loss of life or major damage to property.
Deputy Commissioner Anantnag confirmed the occurrence of cloudburst but said that there was no loss of life or property. “Basically, the cloudburst occurred in forest area called Indu. It led to flash floods in Arpath tributary but now the things are under control,” he told Excelsior.
He said the situation is normal and under control and people need not worry. Last month, a family in Aru Pahalgam was washed away after a cloudburst occurred in the area.
