JAMMU, Jan 7: Raising their security concerns in the Valley and the consequent Government apathy towards assuaging their fear, the PM package employees today accused the UT administration of pushing them in a ” gloom and doom” situation by not paying any heed to their demand.
Talking to reporters here, today package employees representative, Yogesh Pandita alleged that the Government instead is forcing them to join back in the Valley by stopping their salaries. The employees have now been protesting for the past 243 days demanding attachment to Jammu in the wake of targeted killings in the Kashmir valley but Government is unmoved, he added.
Package employees’ vice president, Ranjan Jotshi raised the concerns that some of their colleagues are suffering from life consuming diseases whose salaries have been withheld; wherein one KP employee Chand Jee, a Teacher lost his life to Liver Cirrhosis. He alleged that his salary was withheld by the concerned ZEO and he couldn’t pay his medical expenses leading to his death.
The employees’ representatives also contested the recent statement of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir wherein it has been stated that majority of the Kashmiri Pandit employees have resumed duties. Expressing dismay and resentment they termed it an insensitive statement. They added that majority of the employees are putting up in Jammu and are protesting in support of the attachment demand wherein over 2500 employees have also submitted their individual letters to Prime Minister demanding attachment to Jammu.
Employees’ representatives condemned the arm twisting tactics of the Kashmir administration who are forcing them to join in the Valley. The employees appealed the administration to take responsibility of their lives and give in writing that the administration will be responsible for the same if any untoward incident happens with any of them.
Reiterating their demand of relocation to Jammu in the wake of targeted killings and on receipt of constant threats from TRF, they urged the LG administration that package employees must not be sent back forcefully.
The employees asserted that the UT administration has failed to ensure the safety and security of them and is instead using the bureaucratic apparatus to push them to the brink by stopping their salaries and issuing show cause notices. They reiterated that owing to lack of basic security apparatus and incomplete rehabilitation structure, they can’t go back to their respective places of posting in the Valley.
