JAMMU, Apr 27: Employees appointed under PM package in the year 2010 are living a pathetic condition at Mattan transit camp in Anantnag district of South Kashmir for last six years as they san accommodation and other basic facilities.
In a statement issued here, these employees said that they have been forced to live in miserable conditions due to lack of accommodation. They said that they have been forced to live in over crowed and shared accommodation in transit camp at Mattan due to insufficient space.
The statement said that 20 employees have been placed in a single set having single bath room and single kitchen where six LPG cylinders are in use. Further there are totally unhygienic conditions in the camp so far as quality life of human beings is concerned and the situation at Mattan transit camp is totally worrisome.
The package employees demanded that construction of more 2 BHK family flats are needed at Mattan as this place has been ignored every time while it is a centrally located place and can be considered for a huge transit camp for accommodation of package employees.
They further said that they are unable to bring their children or parents with them due to shortage of accommodation and those who have brought their children are thinking of shifting them back to Jammu due to lack of accommodation.
The employees in an appeal to the Government have urged it to come to their rescue and take immediate steps in constructing more accommodations at Mattan.
