JAMMU, Dec 13: Accusing the UT Government of its failures in mitigating the sufferings of package employees, All Migrant Employees Association Kashmir (AMEAK) staged a strong demonstration in front of Press Club here in support of their demand of relocation and releasing of salaries.
The protesting employees have raised a serious concern about the callous attitude of the Government towards their plight.
Hundreds of package employees having banners and placards in their hands staged a massive protest to grab the attention of the Government and administration towards their concerns. These employees were raising slogans against the administration and in support of their demands.
“We are demanding security and safety of ourselves after the targeted killings but the Government is paying no heed to our demand till date, ” said Sanjay, adding that on one side there were security threat to their lives and on the other side administration has stopped their salaries. ”
“Recently the terror outfit tagged the list of package employees and warned them for dire consequences, ” said another employee while asking the Government that it should not ignore these kind of threats that may prove to be very dangerous.
The employees were protesting for last 216 days in support of their demand of relocation which according to them is the only possible solution at present to save their lives. The employees said that it was very unfortunate that Government has stopped their salaried which has largely affected their families and adding more hardships for them.
Responding to the statement of the Lieutenant Governor that his office doors were open for everyone to resolve issues, the package employees welcomed this statement and said the Government must release immediately salaries of employees which must be a good step in building confidence among them.
