This has reference to the news item ‘Rs 7000 crore package for refugees being placed before Cabinet shortly’ DE Nov 21.
The Government (s) whether State or Centre should without further delay settle the issue of PoK refugees who have suffered much since 1947. These people have highlighted their problems time and again before the concerned authorities, but their efforts did not yield any result. One does not know what prevents these Governments from taking a stand and settle their issues once for all. Many generations have passed away in grief and poverty. It will a crime against humanity if their ordeal continues in this manner. If they have migrated from their native places, it is not because they had a desire to do so. It were the compelling circumstances that forced them to leave their homes and hearths. It is the duty of the Government to settle them by conceding their demands. They should not be forced to come on the roads time and again to lodge their protest and to make authorities aware of their problems.
