Srinagar Aug 25: National Conference (NC) and Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) president, Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that the conglomerate will never wind up, however, the decision on elections will be taken at an appropriate time.
Talking to reporters here, Abdullah said that unfavourable statements would come, but there is a need to be courageous enough to tackle such situations.
“If you cannot be courageous, you cannot do anything good for the people. Besides, there is a need to keep ourselves ready for the sacrifices,” he said.
He added that the decision about the elections will be taken at an appropriate time, keeping in view the situation on the ground at that time.

“NC is a democratic party and a democratic party can pass a resolution…but the final decision will be taken once elections are held in J&K,” he said.
Abdullah, however, said party leaders should learn to take criticism. “If you don’t, you can’t do anything for your people,” he said.
It may be mentioned here that the NC provincial committee members during a meeting yesterday had denounced the unfair treatment meted out to the party by the PAGD constituents. It unanimously resolved to go solo in the Assembly elections whenever they are held in Jammu and Kashmir.
The participants had “expressed dismay over the recent statements, audio jingles and speeches targeting JKNC made by some of the constituents of the PAGD”.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had said that the alliance was formed for a larger objective. “PAGD was conceived for a much larger cause than just an electoral alliance. If some constituent of the alliance has reservations for any kind of electoral alliance, that will not impact our unity,” the PDP tweeted.
PAGD spokesperson and CPI(M) general secretary Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said there may be some misunderstandings, but the decision as to whether the alliance will contest alone or jointly will be taken when elections are held.
