Pahalwan sweet shop owner arrested for assaulting taxi driver

JAMMU, Nov 12: The owner of “Pahalwan sweet shop” was arrested for allegedly thrashing and assaulting a taxi driver near his shop in Gandhi Nagar here today.
“Taxi driver identified as Jagdev Singh, son of Nama Singh of Narwal Bye Pass parked his vehicle bearing registration number JK02AB-1119 carrying tourists near Pahalwan sweet shop at Gole Market, Gandhi Nagar”, police sources said.
In the mean time, owner of Pahalwan sweet shop Satish Chander reached the spot and asked the driver to remove his taxi, which led to verbal dual, sources said, adding that later Satish Chander allegedly thrashed and assaulted the taxi driver.
The taxi driver went to Gandhi Nagar Police Station and lodged a complaint against Satish Chander, sources said, adding that after registering a case under FIR number 277/13 under Section 323, 314/34 RPC police arrested Satish Chander.
Meanwhile, on getting information about the incident, drivers and owners of various tourist cabs also reached Gandhi Nagar Police Station and demanded action against Satish Chander, who allegedly assaulted the taxi driver Jagdev Singh without any fault.
