Pahari area people faced exploitation: Sham

AKHNOOR, Nov 17:  Seeking people’s support on the basis of his performance, senior Congress leader and Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma today said that people from Pahari belt of this constituency were exploited for vote bank by his predecessors.
Addressing series of public meetings at  Rah Salyot,  Hardoo, Malara, Sai Galla and Makara in Akhnoor constituency today, the Minister said that during the past two tenures being representative of Akhnoor, he served the people with missionary zeal and did whatever possible for the welfare and prosperity of this area and the people.
While seeking their support, Mr Sharma recalled when even  the basic need of the Pahari areas were denied and  remote area masses had to travel day long on foot journey for petty works as well as needs of their life. The Pahari people  elected him with overwhelming mandate with the hope for some change in their life.  He has kept this in mind and would  deliver on priority through all round development of their villages.
Sham Lal claimed that connectivity was major challenge, however, through several road projects he got connected these areas with highway. He said in Pahari areas the common man had to travel 50 kms to trace his VLW, patwari but  he managed  Tehsil, Niabat and CD block for central place at Chowki Chowra besides Niabat at Rah-Salyote, Ghar Majoor too.
Seeking their vote and support, Mr Sharma stated that he strived to provide all basic civic amenities such as Education, Health services, drinking water, irrigation facilities and Rural Electrification, one Higher Secondary Schools provided at Chowki Chowra, Jhang and Rah Salyote similarly High Schools at Kaneri, Dhanna Chappri, Ghar Majoor and Balsro with Primary schools in all the populated areas.
These areas were provided with one 100 bedded emergency hospital at Chowki Chowra, PHCs at Ghar Majoor and Rah Salyote, to  provide them  health facilities  at door steps.
To lighten their dark house 33/11 Grid stations at Dhana Jallara, Balli Gulaba has been installed which transformed both agricultural sector and domestic conditions. One Guest House at Ghar Majoor was build up for stay of visitors.  He said it was just the beginning as he has chalked out big plan and vision for Pahari areas.
