JAMMU, June 23: J&K Pahari People Movement (JKPPM) today warned to launch Rajasthan type agitation if the granting of Schedule Tribe Status to Paharis was further delayed.
Addressing the meeting of the Movement at Rajouri today, Sayed Iqbal Hussain Shah said Paharis will launch a rebellion against the coalition partners in case they delayed the grant of ST status to them.
He urged the Paharis to remain united and take the ongoing struggle to its logical end.
The speakers criticized the coalition for ignoring 25 lakh Paharis in the State by politicians for their vested interests.
Shabaz Khan chief executive and Rajinder Mehta spokesman JKPPM said that no doubt the grant of Pahari status is the prime demand of the people but Paharis are also facing the political discrimination and not getting their due.
