UDHAMPUR, Apr 2: Another successful painless knee replacement surgery was performed free of cost under Ayushman Bharat Scheme at District Hospital (DH) Udhampur.
The surgery was performed by Dr Balvinder Singh, Orthopaedic Surgeon, who is trained in knee and hip replacement from Germany. Dr Balvinder informed that a 54-year old female patient who was case of severe oseteoarthritis consulted him in regular OPD of the Hospital.
“The woman with severe left knee pain and difficulty in walking, being poor was not in condition to go to any private setup as knee replacement surgery is a very costly affair,” he said, adding, after admission, her Ayushman Card was generated and registered under PMJAY.
He said total knee joint replacement and high flex knee replacement was done on the woman and within few days she will be able to sit cross legged and do her all routine activities.
Dr Balvinder was assisted in the procedure by Dr Prakash Atri (Consultant Anaesthesia) and Santosh Singh & Mahesh (Assistants). The whole procedure was done under the direct supervision of Dr K C Dogra, CMO Udhampur and Dr Vijay Raina, Medical Superintendent DH Udhampur.
